A new vignette

My new house has been a challenge for me. I am learning
I can't have everything I want and I have to use what I have!
So that's exactly what I have been doing.
I really want to change my style but at this time I can only change decorating items and not furniture. Is anyone else going through this and how are you doing?????
I have lived with the same couches for 18 years in my family room & living room.
They have seen better days...haven't we all! lol
This brings me to my country white Annie Sloan painted dresser in my kitchen.
I love having it there.
It holds my placemats, napkins, tea towels and a space in my heart.
I have been changing the top quite often. It eases the decorator in me!
Today it holds my blue coffee/tea set........

I love the color of this set. I paid $5.00 for it at a garage sale many years ago.
YUP! Five whole dollars!
The eggs are marble eggs & given to me by my mom at Easter.

This set  makes me happy....
as children my mom would hide these eggs in our living room and we would find them.

I bought the next two eggs in IL at a Farmer's Market.
They are hand painted.

The yellow ceramic egg I think I bought it and a few others. I don't remember.
The wooden golden egg is special. My mom would hide it with all the others.
If we found it, we got a quarter!
We were so happy to be the one that found it!
Can you imagine giving children today only a quarter!

My bunnies came from my shop. I don't have many Easter items.
Mine all broke in our moves and I just stopped buying.

Our round oak table sits right in front of this white dresser.
So as we eat dinner we see this pretty vignette.

This poor bunny, I keep changing her home!

 I just  want to mention......
Kathleen Cuisine certainly is challenging  me. Last week my table would have been perfect for her April 9th challenge "birds, eggs and nests"! I hope all of you get your tables ready!
I am thinking about it this week....basically its a mind thing.
I am afraid I will forget! Getting older is tough! lol

Thanks for stopping by...I need to start pumping this blog up.
I am not getting many visitors or any new  followers!
If you have any hints let me know.

  3. Hey there, Elaine!!! I can't let my husband see this post of yours because you say you've had your sofa for 18 years. We've only had ours for 8, and I've been wanting to get rid of it for at least 4!!! :-) I'm in that same boat with you, girlfriend: Want new furniture, but can't afford what I truly want right now. So, like you, I just bide my time and change the furnishings around the room as best I can. I guess it calls for us to dig down deep into our creativity to pull up something that will at least just tide us over!

I LOVE those eggs you got at the Illinois Farmers Market!!! They are snazzy!!!

Your bunny reminds me of my Amelia. She stays in the guest bedroom, and she was jealous when the new boy came to join her. She has an attitude now! ;-)

I just got my table photographed today for Kathleen's April 9 challenge. I like to get tables done as far in advance as possible so that I'm not scrambling. Not always possible, but I'm SO glad when it is!!! I miss out on a lot of challenges because I'm not "feeling" the subject matter at the time. That's why I keep several tablescapes done and "on hold" so that I can just pull 'em up when needed! :-)

I'm sorry traffic has slowed down for you. I think it's this time of year, though. It's starting to warm up, people are getting out more and not cooped up & on their computers as much. I know I've stopped posting every single week like I used to because I'm out and about more. That's why Spring & Summer are a double-edged sword!

Have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing what you produce for the challenge in a couple of weeks!

  5. Wow, I am in the same situation as you - ready to completely change my style, but unable to purchase large pieces of furniture. So, i am going to try & have slipcovers made for the sofas (If I can find a good deal on the fabric & labor), I am painting smaller pieces in homemade white chalk paint, & painting my walls a soft gray. It by no means would ever be magazine worthy, but it will definitely be more to my liking as I am aiming to lighten everything up. Changing from dark Tuscan to shabby, nordic farmhouse isn't going to be easy, but so far I am liking the small changes.
