A new vignette

My new house has been a challenge for me. I am learning
I can't have everything I want and I have to use what I have!
So that's exactly what I have been doing.
I really want to change my style but at this time I can only change decorating items and not furniture. Is anyone else going through this and how are you doing?????
I have lived with the same couches for 18 years in my family room & living room.
They have seen better days...haven't we all! lol
This brings me to my country white Annie Sloan painted dresser in my kitchen.
I love having it there.
It holds my placemats, napkins, tea towels and a space in my heart.
I have been changing the top quite often. It eases the decorator in me!
Today it holds my blue coffee/tea set........

I love the color of this set. I paid $5.00 for it at a garage sale many years ago.
YUP! Five whole dollars!
The eggs are marble eggs & given to me by my mom at Easter.

This set  makes me happy....
as children my mom would hide these eggs in our living room and we would find them.

I bought the next two eggs in IL at a Farmer's Market.
They are hand painted.

The yellow ceramic egg I think I bought it and a few others. I don't remember.
The wooden golden egg is special. My mom would hide it with all the others.
If we found it, we got a quarter!
We were so happy to be the one that found it!
Can you imagine giving children today only a quarter!

My bunnies came from my shop. I don't have many Easter items.
Mine all broke in our moves and I just stopped buying.

Our round oak table sits right in front of this white dresser.
So as we eat dinner we see this pretty vignette.

This poor bunny, I keep changing her home!

 I just  want to mention......
Kathleen Cuisine certainly is challenging  me. Last week my table would have been perfect for her April 9th challenge "birds, eggs and nests"! I hope all of you get your tables ready!
I am thinking about it this week....basically its a mind thing.
I am afraid I will forget! Getting older is tough! lol

Thanks for stopping by...I need to start pumping this blog up.
I am not getting many visitors or any new  followers!

Spring has definitely sprung at Sweetladyelaine's house!

I am in the mood to decorate. It took me along time but finally it has hit!
Has anybody else felt like me??? It has been an effort to get in the mood.
I am sure our cold & rainy( never ending rain, I may add) weather has not helped.
I think we all feel better when the sun is out. Don't you agree?????????
I was happy to move to Texas for the SUN!!!!! LOL I guess this  year the joke is on me!
Before I tell you the inspiration for this table....coffee tablescape........I should let you know it was half set in the kitchen on my round table. BUT......I was out and about today.
Naughty, Naughty! When I came home I was running late for dinner so I had to do a turn about and set it in my living room on my coffee table. WHEW!!!! I bought a new old tablecloth at Thrift Store.
So with that all said, my inspiration for this table is my Liz Claiborne tablecloth.

Perfect for my spring & summer tablescapes! It is small but I like to layer!

I started out with a rattan charger and then added my favorite dish, Set Sail by Demdaco.
I love all the stripes and all the colors.
My birdie dishes are Gibson. I bought them at Old Time Pottery in Belleville, Illinois.
I paid 39 cents each for them and I use them so much!

The yellow crown dish & coffee cup are another favorite set.
Sweet Olive Designs by Jane Adams.

The eggs are handmade by a friend.

My marble eggs have been given to me by my mom for Easter every year. I have about 30 of them.
She started my daughter and niece, Victoria, get one each Easter.
You will see more of these as I share Easter vignettes.

One last picture............ of my living room.

Before I go I thought I'd show you a vignette that is in my kitchen.
Actually it is a before and after.

Can you see what I did?????
.
I changed the little drawer knobs.
I like them much better.

Thank you for stopping by and letting me share my coffee tablescape with you.

I'm Celebrating Spring

Finally............ I am in the mood for Spring!
I did  the happy dance today setting my spring table. I had such a good time for the last few days getting it ready. The weather is somewhat cooperating here in Spring, Texas.
This crazy Northerner is dressed in shorts and a tee shirt.
Of course, people think I'm nuts! If they only knew!!! LOL

My inspiration to my happy table are my placemats and napkins.
I just bought them at a secondhand store called "Something Special" here in Texas.
Proceeds go to a battered women's shelter.

You know I love blue....I set each place setting with different white plates, salad plates and napkins.  For some reason I didn't think to use chargers.
My glass blue ones would have been pretty!

I used my glasses from Tuesday Morning.
Several bloggers own these in colors. I wish I had bought the green ones.

Not exactly  side views......but here they are!

And what spring table wouldn't have bunnies and birdies!
They came out to play too!

My bluebird of happiness came out of the china closet for an appearance too.
My daughter gave him to me years ago.

Nothing says Spring like a Faberge egg filled with tiny daffodils.

 More birdies with roses.....

Pretty gold votives grace my table for a romantic touch.

And last but not least my center piece....... with what else more birdies!

I'll leave you with one more picture of the whole table.
Thanks for stopping by.
I appreciate your visit.
Please leave a comment!
As you can see I am trying to join more parties......I'm not sure how to link up but I am trying!

Stuffed Peppers

In the last post I mentioned I was having stuffed peppers for dinner. I thought I'd share the recipe.

My mom bought me this paperback cookbook a long time ago. She said the recipes were most like her mom's. You can tell my book is well used!

Set out 2 qt. baking dish. Rinse and cut a thin slice from each stem end of four green peppers.
Remove white fiber and seeds. Rinse cavities. Drop into boiling water to cover and simmer 5 mins. Remove peppers from water; invert and set aside to drain.

Meanwhile,
cook 2/3 cup rice.

Heat in skillet 1/4 cup olive oil
Add to skillet and cook until browned, breaking into small pieces with fork or spoon
1 lb. of ground beef

Stir in
2 tbs. minced onion
1 tbs. minced parsley
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Mix with cooked rice. Lightly fill peppers with rice- meat mixture, heaping slightly. Place into baking dish.
Pour around peppers 1 1/2 cups of tomato sauce seasoned to taste.
Place on top of each pepper strips of mozzarella cheese. Bake at 350 degrees about 15 mins.

I did a few things different........
I used red peppers because they were on sale.
You should buy peppers that can sit on their bottom, by themselves. Mine are long and so I laid them on their side.
I chopped and  added a whole onion instead of minced onion. I added oregano, basil, red pepper flakes and garlic to taste. My sauce was leftover spaghetti sauce, I put around the peppers. You can serve alone or with pasta and of course Italian bread!

A before picture.......

An after picture............

A beautiful cover......

Hope you make these delicious peppers. Be creative when cooking! Add spices to make it your own.
Let me know how yours turned out!

Table Escaping!

Lots going on at the Zoo! That's what I call our household.....

I am finally taking the  time to try on my new computer glasses. I love them! Do you have computer glasses? Since I needed to have my eyes checked and new lenses, I made my old frames into computer glasses. I  have been on the computer so much I was getting a terrific neck ache. Hopefully now I can spend time on the computer without the neck and back ache.

This weekend went by very fast. Today it is rainy so I decided to set a table. Procrastination is my name! lol!  Table escaping is my game!
The inspiration for this table are the dishes. I bought them in Illinois at a consignment shop with my friend, Judy.  She found the consignment shop and we had to go and visit. The dishes are turquoise blue & grey. I had a hard time finding  a charger in my stash that made them pop. Meanwhile I broke two gold ones. Have you every done that? I wasn't rushing, just picking them up and then I heard a crack! I may just glue them. I only had two so its no big deal, just annoying!

We are in my kitchen. Mr. Sweetladyelaine put up the gold mirror and the black clock. I really like it. So this is tonight's dinner for two.

I have no idea of the pattern or maker. The names were etched off of each plate.
Not sure why, but someone didn't want anyone to know its origin.
So if you have seen this pattern or have an idea of why someone would do this, let me know.

I bought these little gems at Garden Ridge here in Texas!
They came four in a pack, I wish I had bought more.

This wine decanter was a wedding gift my first time around, from my Aunt Emily.
I love it and have kept it all these years. It has six wine glasses.

The tablecloth is actually a throw that I bought at GW and is two sided with tassels.

My forever centerpiece! I call it that because I use it every day and just change what's in it.
I am sure you have seen it over and over! I have put it in every room of my house.
I bought it years ago in the Christmas Tree Shop in Albany, NY

Here is one last look at my place setting! I wanted to show you the napkins. Grey and white. I love the pattern and I am sure you will see these again too!

Well, I better get moving I have stuffed peppers to make for dinner. I bought some beautiful red peppers at HEB the other day......

Thanks for stopping by. I will post again soon.

Blessings to You My Friend,

I pray that you, "Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ".
 (2 Peter 3:18)

I am not sure where you are in your walk with Jesus. I do know this, it is a process and God knows where you are. Ask Him to help you. He is orchestrating your every move.
I just want you to know you are not alone.
He is with you always directing you on which way to go. Surrender to Him and all will be well.
May you know the joy of a Spirit filled life!
