It Says Fall....Really????......

Hi Everyone,
I guess according to the calendar it is fall, but at 96 degrees in Texas it hardly feels it! I just can't get into the swing of it. Everyone is wearing fall colors and I am still into shorts and pink! I think I am still on New York time, soon to be on Illinois time.
Plus I can't decorate my house for fall so that makes it all the worse. My house is for sale and you shouldn't show any personal stuff!
So here is my attempt on a not feeling like fall table! LOL

This is a week night table for hubby and me.
I love these napkins! I bought the napkins at a thrift store but used them here as placemats.

All the dishes are from Goodwill......

I bought the white rose plates and soup bowl in Buffalo, NY.

I bought two gold plates and two navy blue plates in Houston at Goodwill.

This is the napkin! I just thought it was so pretty and screamed fall to me. I don't have anything fall. I just used my Yorktowne dishes for everything and had a nice fall centerpiece. Joining TT I have bought a few things here and there.

Pine cones I picked up in my yard.

The candles I bought at the Dollar Store. I broke one carrying it to the table!

My centerpiece is simple. A cobalt blue plate on top of a silver candy dish with a berry wreath and a orange cranberry candle. It smells yummie!!!!

Thank you for stopping by and stay tuned for the move! Hopefully we will sell our house fast! I am hoping to move by Thanksgiving so I can decorate this year for Christmas! It is so hard moving near the holidays!

Thank you to Susan for hosting Tablescape Thursday! Do stop by her blog Between Naps On The Porch to visit all the beautiful tablescapes for this week.

Thank you to all my blogging friends who have stopped by I appreciate your kind comments.
Remember if you need prayer, drop me a line or leave it on the comment page.

A New Adventure

.I can't even believe I am writing this..........but we are moving! Yup! Our house went up for sale on Friday and the rush has began! My heavens you say....me too! We have been in Texas less than a year!!
We moved in December 23, 2011. I am cleaning like crazy!!! I am ok with this move believe it or not. I know the trials ahead of me, but it's a new adventure! We are moving near Marissa, IL. It is very close to St. Louis, Mo.
Any bloggers from that area??? Let me know....I need my blogger friends to encourage me!!!!

Well, this got me thinking....I never shared alot of this house. So in the next few weeks I will be sharing a few rooms here and there!
By the way, my camera broke so I am using my old one.....when it rains at the zoo, it is always a hurricane!

Today I am sharing our bedroom. Chloe had to be in the picture!
A little info...I had my bed table and bought the other one at Goodwill. A perfect match! I painted them white and bought lamps at Penny's.

This is the other side. I was trying to create a sitting room.
The bench is all metal and would look pretty on a porch. I need to make new pillows for it. I bought it from a friend. The rocker I bought years ago for $5.00! I had it reupholstered.

This is looking out the window. A nice view!

The realtor told me to take off the Christmas decorations off my tapestry! LOL  So I did!
This was too much for me...I am still laughing!!!! I guess it tells me something about my decorating!

This is looking out towards the pool! A cedar chest that needs to be refinished.

This armoire holds our TV. It sits at the end of the bed. You can also see my free bench (white) that needs to be recovered. The realtor told me to put it in the garage! The hydrangea bench and angel cabinet I bought at a yard sale.

See the dried roses in the pitcher? Yup! The realtor told me to get rid of them!!!! LOL
I bought all of this at Goodwill. I bought the table runner at Tuesday Morning.

I hope you liked the little tour of our bedroom. I took at little break to share our news!  I will be thinking of all of you as I finish cleaning today. We are showing the house again tomorrow.

Just think in a few months I can share another bedroom with you! Looking forward to that!

Thanks for stopping by today!

I feel Green.......

This Tablescape was meant for last week but life happened here at the zoo.
So, I am posting it this week.
I bet your wondering why I call my house a zoo????
Well you just keep wondering and when you decide why, you let me know! LOL

I bought these beautiful green glass chargers at Something Special and I just couldn't wait to use them. I actually wanted to use them for cookies with my green depression glass plates and with My Old Country Rose china.

Again, a simple dinner for hubby and me in the kitchen overlooking the pool!
The dishes are glass bought at the Dollar Store years ago. My mom and I have 12 each so we could put them together for large family dinners.

I used a green tablecloth folded in half to fit my small round table.
The lace overlay is my daughters veil from my brothers wedding.

Here's the other side of the plates!
The napkin was bought at Goodwill...it is really a small scarf for a tabletop.

This is the inspiration for this whole table. The plate is an emerald green with a gold rim.
I am not sure if you can tell....

                           This is the flat plate......

This is the soup or salad plate.

The little glass has a slight green bottom. The larger wine glass is etched.
My centerpeice is simple. I don't have flowers in my garden so silk will have to do.

I probably paid 50 cents for this many years ago. I learned about antiques from many people but I had a cousin, Georgia, and  she would find places to buy old things. We would drive miles and go crawling around in old barns, under houses and in cellars to see what we could find. It was always an adventure. Back then people were not interested in collecting.

A relish tray with etched pictures of  celery, olives and pickles.

Crystal cruets for oil and vinegar

I had candles on the table too!
I happen to love candles so I use them often.

And who do you think was watching all the activity ????

                     Sweet Pea of course!!!!

                             Thanks for stopping by...................

                             I appreciate your wonderful comments!!!!

If you have a prayer request you can email me or leave it as a comment!

I am joining Susan at Between Naps On The Porch for Tablescape Thursday!
          Hope to see you there!

Today's Thoughts

We are not going to find complete satisfaction in the world.  Seeing God's face is going to complete the longing.  We need to teach our soul that its satisfaction is in God, alone!  We were made to know our Creator.  We need to spend quiet time with God everyday.  God is not working in everyones life the same. He is shaping each of us to be more like His Son, so we can used by God to glorify His Son.  Have you spent some quiet time alone with God today?  Make sure you listen to what He has to tell you.  "What I tell you in the dark speak in the daylight (Matt 10:27).   Be Quiet..... listen to God when things are at their worst and you will be able to talk to others when you are better!  Darkness is the time to listen and heed.  If you talk to other people you cannot hear what God is saying.  When you listen in the dark God will give you a very precious message for someone else when you get in the light.  Others will learn from you!

When we are so wedded to the world we lose sight of eternity.........

"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one"! ( Matt 6:9)
For yours is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory FOREVER!

I hope this post blesses you today,

Caesar......

Sorry I haven't posted recently.
I did have my tablescape ready to go but life happened. Our beloved Caesar was put to sleep on September 17th. He had and "Echo" on Thursday and it was too much stress for him. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and a rare cancerous mass in his heart. It was all so fast! This all happened in the past week. He was fine up to this point. I am so heart broken that I can hardly breathe.
A part of me has died with him.....
 Caesar

He was 9 years old.

Such a beautiful dog. We named him Caesar because he looked so regal.

He will be missed!
I know he is with his brother, Phantom who passed away last year.
Pray for us.....

A Great Reply

A friend sent this to me and I wanted to share it with you.
Do you have something your kids have done or said that made you laugh. Please share it with me! I think kids are the greatest.  Hope you all have a great day!

The Haircut

A teenage boy had just passed his driving test and inquired of his
father as to when they could discuss his use of the car.
His father said he'd make a deal with his son, "You bring your
grades up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little,
and get your hair cut Then we'll talk about the car."
The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he'd settle
for the offer, and they agreed on it.
After about six weeks his father said, "Son, you've brought
your grades up and I've observed that you have been studying
your Bible, but I'm disappointed you haven't had your hair cut."
The boy said, "You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that,
and I've noticed in my studies of the Bible that Samson had
long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair,
and there's even strong evidence that Jesus had long hair."
(You're going to love the Dad's reply!)

"Did you also notice they all walked everywhere?"

What a perfect come back!!! I love it!!!! I wished I had written down the things my daughter use to say......
I didn't. Those memories are gone. Did you write down cute things your children said? How about your grandchildren?

If you can remember a funny incident, share it with me......I hope this was a blessing to you!

Have a wonderful day!

Fall?????Already!!!!!

Where has the time gone????? It seems that with my husband starting his new job last week and the holiday weekend, I'm behind. How do I get so behind...........
It's Wednesday already and I haven't even thought of a tablescape!
I had hoped I would be blogging a little more than I have been. I guess like everyone else, September is a good time to get into a schedule. I also realize that fall is here. Well, the calendar says it's here. In Texas its still 90 degrees! Wait I should clarify that... Texans think it's fall because the calendar says so not the weather. lol
Being a NewYorker, going from 106 to 90 degrees is not a cool down... Granted it is cooler, not a cool down! lol  A cool down is 60 degrees and you need a sweatshirt! lol  I get a big kick out of Texans!!!!!

I thought I'd share last night's dinner with you....

I set a simple table every night for my husband and I. The placemat is green,  the sun is making it look lighter than it really is. I bought four at "Something Special".
All proceeds go to a women's shelter in Montgomery county.

The striped dish is "Set Sail" by Demdaco. I bought them half price at a store in Spring or Galvaston.
I bought four in Spring and then saw them again in Galvaston. I love the happy colors!
Did you see the napkin????  I through in a little fun.........snowmen! I love them!!!

I just bought the gold dishes at Salvation Army.
I bought four, two of another color. I will share them in  another post!
They are Espana by Tabletops Unlimited. I poured myself a glass of wine.

For dinner we are having.............................
Dijon Chicken Thighs with Artichoke Sauce over fettuccine
 with a tossed salad.
This is all made in the crock pot. The recipe is at the end of the post. I wish you could smell this...........

The fettuccine boiling.......

The tossed salad is mixed.......with raspberry vingarette.

Dinner is served!!!!
This is a wonderful meal even for company........
I would also serve crusty garlic bread with this but I didn't have any.

A simple everyday meal at Sweetladyelaine's!

Dijon Chicken Thighs with Artichoke Sauce

1/3 cup dijon mustard
2 tablespoons chopped garlic
1/2 teaspoon dried tarragon (optional)
8 chicken thighs skinned ( I have used boneless breasts)
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 jar (12 ounces) marinated artichoke hearts undrained cut in half
1/4 chopped fresh parsley (optional)

1. Combine mustard, garlic and tarragon in large bowl. Add chicken thighs and toss to coat. Transfer to 4-6 quart Crock Pot slow cooker.
2. Add onion, mushrooms and artichokes with liquid. Cover; cook on low 6-8 hours or on high 4 hours or until chicken is tender. Stir in parsley just before serving.

Serving Suggestions: Serve over hot fettuccine that has been tossed with butter and parsley.

Note: To skin chicken easily, grasp skin with paper towel and pull away. Repeat with fresh paper towel for each piece of chicken, discarding skins and towels.

This is a great meal for the cool weather! ENJOY!!!!!!!

Thank you for stopping by....I appreciate your visits!
