On The Move

Hi Everyone,
By the time you read this, the movers will be packing and loading us in their truck! We should be in Houston on Sunday and wait for closing. I am so happy to be leaving. It just has seems like it took forever.

I set this table about two weeks ago.
My inspiration seemed to be all of your Halloween tables! lol I couldn't think past my nose this last month! So I dug in the basement for some fall stuff!

The chargers are from Wal-Mart. The dinner plate is made by Knowles and the pattern is Santa Monica. The leaf plate I can't remember and the leaf candle is from the Dollar Store a few years back.

You can see a close up of the charger. It has leaves and acorns around the rim.
I am not fond of orange so I accent with any other color. In this tablescape, I used a lot of gold.

This one of two runners I bought at the Christmas Tree Store when I was in New York.
I just sent my daughter the other one.

I love candles and I buy them whenever I see them at Thrift Stores, GW, Garage Sales or Savers.
The same for candlesticks.....I just love them!

I finally put this vintage casseroles in a tablescape. I keep forgetting to put serving pieces on the table.

I received these years ago as wedding presents. I use them a lot.

Pumpkin salt & pepper shakers.

Gold glasses found at our church rummage sale for 25 cents each!

My centerpiece is a ceramic pumpkin from CTS and faux flowers from a consignment store. I stuffed
a gold runner in the top to hold the flowers upright. It gives me the bling I crave!!! lol

Thank you for inspiring me to go to the basement and do at least one fall table! I enjoy your visits and I love visiting you. I may be a little late in seeing your tables but I will be there. Thanks so much for your lovely comments during my move. I appreciate them more than words can say.

Dinner with Friends In Lousianna

BIG Thank you to all who came and visited me last week. I appreciate your kind comments. We did buy a house and are off to Houston in a few weeks. I am very excited!
I am anxious to move on in my life.........we do move often lately and it is your comments that keep me going. Thank you so much for being my blogger friends.

As I promised in the last post, I have Donna's tablescape to share with you today.
Donna and I met in Buffalo, NY at church. Over the past several years we have been trying to meet but it never seemed the right time.We finally got to spend two days together!
Mr.. Sweetladyelaine and I went to Baton Rouge for two days while I was on a house hunting trip in Houston, Texas. Donna & Kurt live in Lafayette, La &  invited us to dinner at their house.
Of course, I had to take pictures of  her beautiful table and  show you....
I noticed she & I have the same chargers and placemats! I was thrilled.

I only got to take a few pictures....
I loved her salad plates! I think she told me they were from
Wal-Mart. I also loved her pashmina scarf that she used as her tablecloth.  A great idea and it makes her dishes shine. Beautiful!

Everyone was so hungry. (Mr. Sweetladyelaine & I got their a little late due to traffic)

  I took them fast!
We had roast beef with gravy, mashed potatoes, buttered carrots, and a layered salad. The salad happens to be my favorite! I forgot the hot buttered rolls & wine! She did serve another veggie but I forgot what it was. It was all so delicious!

You can see the men already started to fill their plates. Everything  was so yummy!
Did I mention we ate by candlelight? The perfect centerpiece for me because I love candles and so does Donna.

        Donna was happy.......

Kurt was happy.........

Mr. Sweetladyelaine was just too hungry to wait!

And for dessert......cheesecake in different flavors with whipped cream & a cherry!

We had a wonderful visit. It had been a long time since we had spent time together as couples. I didn't realize how much I missed them until we were going home. I am glad God gave us the opportunity to see each other.
Donna is godly woman. We developed our friendship over time. She keeps my head on straight when I feel I can't go on any more. She gives me godly wisdom & encouragement when I need it. She keeps me accountable. She tells me the truth and always tells me she loves me.
I am so grateful to have a wonderful friend like her.
Do you have a friend like that? I hope you do....everyone needs a person to keep them encouraged & strong!
I'm not sure when we will get together again, but I do know we Skype often.

A BIG Thank you to Donna & Kurt for a lovely dinner!

A White Challenge??????

From my last post you know I spent 9 days in Houston to come home without a house. It was very disappointing for me. Houston is just booming with house sales. It is definitely a sellers market.

I came home and Mr. Sweetladyelaine and I decided to buy a house we had seen .......
A very nice house. We were excited! Anyway long story short...it had problems with MOLD!
So we decided not to buy it! We were upset but we decided it was better to be sure about what we were buying than get stuck with a lot of problems. Especially since we are not from Texas or know much about the ins and outs of houses there.

The next morning at 7am I was looking at houses and the one I loved, loved,  was back on the market. I hurried and called Mr. Sweetladyelaine and he in turn called our agent and abracadabra.......a house is bought!
We are just waiting for closing.......
Is this a God intervention????? ABSOLUTELY!!!!

So you can see this challenge from Kathleen is not the only challenge I have had this week! In fact I started to set this table two weeks ago. I was afraid I wouldn't have time to set a table. I had tried silver & white and just couldn't pull it off so when I found the red & white material I used for the tablecloth, it was a no brainer! So I guess that is my inspiration......a red & white tablecloth.  I bought it at our church rummage sale for .50 cents.

I have other white dishes to use but liked these better.
                                                   They are my favorite!
And lately I am into white.....
If I buy anything new, I paint it white!

The dinner plate is by Gibson and
                                                the salad plate is Ridges,
                                                      by Living Quarters.
I seem to love Ridges! I use them all the time.
It is all offset with the red charger!

                                       A rim shot................

The heart shaped bowl was bought at Michael's sometime ago.

For my centerpiece I found this fabulous white at tray
                                 a consignment shop for $10.00.
I thought it was a little pricey but loved the detail.

Found this little beauty at Savers.

My little salt & pepper shakers are another Savers buy.

These white candlesticks I bought from my shop. They are Mikasa.

A very simple table to participate in Kathleen's all white challenge.
It certainly was a challenge and I enjoyed setting my table. Now, I can't wait to see your tables. I am coming to look......

Baton Rouge & Lafayette Louisannia

Sorry .........
I haven't ignored you...just busy!  The last time I wrote, I was getting ready to go to Houston to house hunt. I spent 9 days there and did not find a house.  I did  spend 2 days with my friend, Donna who lives in Lafayette, La. We had so much fun. I took some pictures of our days together so I could share them with you. We haven't seen each other in about three years. We met in Buffalo, NY at The Chapel.

Wednesday Donna drove to Baton Rouge to swim at the Hilton where we were staying.

These are pictures of the Mississippi River from the third floor of the hotel.

It was a beautiful sunny day. Lots of activity on the river!

The pool over looking the river.
Donna brought a picnic lunch and we laid out in the sun until about 2 or 3 just relaxing and chatting!
It was a great way to catch up!

I did get a sunburn!!!!   OUCH!

The next day I drove to Lafayette and we went to Tinsel and Treasures put on by the  League of Women! It was wonderful.........so many booths to visit. I forgot to take pictures too!
I was overwhelmed with the amount of ladies looking, buying and bumping into!
What a treat! You could find just about anything....... caramel apples, clothes, jewelry, Christmas things, Halloween things, silver, baby items, husband items, just a lot of everything!

I thought the tops of the trees were so pretty and since Christmas is around the corner......
maybe you'd like to try something new! Deco mesh seems to be big now!

A little inspiration........I love the white fluffy things. Whatever they are! lol

Maybe try something new this year?????/

A whole lot of new.........this didn't come out to clear but I loved the candlesticks.

A new fall door ...perhaps! I snuck this one in.....

A subtle change...a new exotic bow.

Or how about some sweet gold birdies! I wanted these but then passed them up!

This was so much fun. I am glad Donna invited me! Thank You, Donna!

After this wonderful afternoon, my husband met us at Donna & Kurt's for a lovely dinner! I will share that on October 23rd.
Remember our challenge from Kathleen, white dishes for the 16th! I set my table already....waiting to see all your tables.

Have a wonderful week!

Blessings My Friend,

P.S.  Not sure why we are having so much trouble buying a house in Texas. I do know that I am trusting in the Lord to get us one!
