A Table on a Shoe String......

Since we are unemployed, I have not bought any dishes in at least the past six months! I pride myself in being a good steward of our money. This is decorating a table for very little.

I have been pretty busy the past two weeks.....my hubby went on a week of job interviews and I went on a hunt! lol  My friend and I went consignment shopping, garage sale shopping and just plain shopping! Did you ever have days like that???????
I was exhausted but I had so much fun.....

That brings me to my tablescape today! Everything on my table has come from Goodwill, garage sales, or on sale, cheap!

I bought these at Old Time Pottery for 50 cents a piece! I was so happy.....I haven't bought anything new for soooo long. They're"arc  called "Swirl" and are hand painted. They are orange & red.....

The plates are made in France  by "arcopal". I bought these at a garage sale last week. At $3.00 for a place setting of eight, it was a great buy.... 8 dinner, 8  salad, 2 bowls and 8 mugs.

Here is a side view of my bargains......my charger is blue - green, from a resale place in Texas.

I love this centerpiece....I wasn't sure what to put in it so I left it empty. I thought about turning it into a lamp! It needs a little painting but I am undecided what to do with it! I bought this at a Community Kindness Shop here in Belleville, IL.

Goodwill was so good to me in Buffalo, New York. I do miss it ! I bought these rose pots there for 99 cents each. I miss those days. I am only buying on sale.

Another Goodwill, New York  find......

I bought two of these at a garage sale last summer. I think they are so pretty!

Well, there you have it...a simple, table set on a shoe string.......

  2. THIS is how you do it! THIS is how you set a pretty table without breaking the bank. Just think it through, shop leisurely at places where you can find great bargains, and then put it together with thought and care. It's terrific, Elaine!

I haven't been shopping in awhile, either. Not even to thrift stores. :-( I've kind of gotten used to it now. I am learning to use what I have and make the best of it. I sure would love to just put my hands on a few of those swirl plates, though! :-) And what a great buy on the other plates!!!!!!

Great table on a budget!!! It doesn't look like you pinched a penny anywhere! Have a great rest of the week!!!

  3. Your shoestring table looks like a million bucks! I love your pretty colors and you've scouted up some lovely things on your thrifting hunts. I'm not buying anything new these days either.....running out of room!

  4. I would never have known this was a shoestring.. it's just gorgeous. The colors are wonderful! I love the runner.. Omg, is that fabric or an actual runner? So very pretty. I love your centerpiece. I am not sure I would paint it.. It's so pretty in white. Some fruit in the top, or even some plants in those tiny pots! xo marlis

  6. Hello Sweet Lady Elaine - I wish you both luck with the job situation, I know it is very stressful. Your table is lovely as always. I see those white milk glass divided plates at antiques stores a lot, usually for $10, so you did well! The centerpiece could hold fruit maybe? You got a GREAT deal on the Arcopal set, wow! Take care - Dawn

  9. Hello from Kansas.
You have set a lovely table!
I loveeeee shopping the thrift shops. Actually like doing this better than going to a high dollar shop with the hefty price tags.

Lifting you and husband up in prayer about job situation.

It can be a tough time. Been there. Done that.
