TIME IS FLYING.....

Hi Everyone,
I just can't believe that I keep missing Tablescape Thursday! The days are flying by and I feel like I keep running but never catch up. So I guess I better tell you what's up....

The closing for our house is suppose to be December 15th.....and we would leave with our "zoo" for Houston the next morning! Our "zoo", consists of 3 dogs, a bird and a race car in tow.  The movers are coming this Friday and then again Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. (Dishes weigh, I guess!)
But...this is all tentative!!!! OH MY........

Therefore ladyelaine decided to show you a tablescape a little early or is it late???  I'm not sure!

This is Thanksgiving at my mom's in Schenectady. I was so afraid I would forget to take pictures that I just took them while I was setting the table and it wasn't even finished! I think the important thing is I remembered to take the pictures!!!!

I did light the candles while I was setting the table

I made artichoke dip with crusty bread for an appetizer.

Shrimp cocktail was our first course. My mom insists on fruit for the centerpiece with candles. the bowl and candsticks are vintage.

This was our first Thanksgiving without my Dad and I must admit, it was difficult. When we prayed we mentioned our loss. I know God heard us. We were thankful for being together. We know we will be in Houston for Christmas...our first, away from home. God knows how we feel, but I also know he has a plan for my husband and I. We will be where we are suppose to be. We are thankful for that!

I did use my mom's Nortake china, silver and crystal.  I have to tell you it all went well.

We did try something different... we went visiting to friends after dinner. That was the best thing we could have done. We all watched a movie together. The evening ended with laughter and hugs!

Well..that's it!!!!! I feel much better that I posted today!

Thank you for coming by......

I miss you all.

Remember to Thank our Lord for the little things in your life!

Blessings my friends!

Good good luck on your move, and be sure to keep us all informed. Are your kids happy with the move?
Houston is mighty big...have you already got a house there?
    Good luck..

  3. Good luck with the move, Elaine. I pray all goes well! I moved once a week before Cmas, and then had Cmas dinner for too many at my house!
That was when I was young and foolish!

  5. Well, everything looks inviting and yummy. I could make an entire meal out of the shrimp and the dip. (Which is why my hips are the width they are.)

You're right. God has a plan. God bless.

  7. Hello sweet Lady Elaine,
I hope all is going well with your move. Thats always a lot of trouble, mess and confusion, but in the end - hopefully- you and your family will have a new home and it needs not many to have a nice Christmas. Jesus just needed a barn and so Christmas will be everywhere there are people who remind that.
    Greetings, Johanna

  9. My goodness, Elaine, a mid-December move really complicates things, doesn't it? I hope you will enjoy life in Houston in your new home. Your mother's table was lovely -- very elegant with her pretty china and crystal! I know the first Thanksgiving without your dad was hard on all of you. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers as you prepare for the move!

  11. Hello!
Wanted to stop by and say howdy from Kansas. Gonna become a follower.

This is a beautiful table with the fixins'.

Time gets away from me and I'm concerned I won't be ready with getting my house cleaned before the new year rings in.

    God bless,

  14. As you continue with the marathon that is your move to Houston, you are on my heart and in my prayers. I pray that our mighty God pours His favor on you through the process. I hope that you find a circle of friends quickly after your move. We're a friendly bunch here in the Southwest. You shouldn't have any trouble at all! Thank you for sharing your mom's Thanksgiving tablescape. Cherry Kay

  15. Hi! We've missed you! Glad to hear the move is up and coming really soon. It will all be over before you know it, and you'll be back to "normal" in no time! I'm glad to hear your first Thanksgiving without your Dad was peaceful for you and your Mom. I can only imagine how difficult the prospect of facing the holiday without him must have been. It's good that you had friends to visit who could help keep your spirits up! The table is so nice, and the shrimp cocktail makes me want to crawl inside my computer to eat it!!! Have a wonderful weekend - as best it can be with all the activity going on around you - and we'll see you soon! Happy (and safe!) Moving!!!
