My First Tablescape Thursday......

I am so excited to be participating in Tablescape Thursday! My very, very First!!!!! A big THANK YOU to BNOTP! I must admit it took me a longggggggggg time to put this together...I don't have the knack of it yet, but I will! I had fun doing it and that's all that mattered to me! Hope you like it! We are having LUNCH in our family room.

This is our family room looking out on our backyard. If you look through the window you will see our pond that my husband built in 2005. I will show you pictures of the pond in a future post. I love drinking coffee in the morning or eating lunch here, like we are today!  I feel like I'm part of nature! The sun is shining and it is bright and beautiful! Let's sit down and I will tell you about my place settings.

I buy things that I fall in love with! The minute I saw these dishes at Goodwill I had to have them! I love roses and pink! Can you see the gold edging around the flowers? I love the shape of the plates..... They are made by the Edwin M. Knowles China Company in June of 1936.
I wanted to tell you...a little of the history of our table. It was in my parents cellar for years! My mom had it refinished and gave it to me before we moved to IL. As children we played school in the cellar. I have hours of fond memories teaching the neighborhood children on it!

I'm not sure if you can see the gold rim on the drinking glasses. I bought these at the Dollar Store some time ago. The wine glasses are from Tuesday Morning. I can't remember the pattern. The gold silverware was bought in Canada. The placemats...are you ready????? Are plastic! I think they are pretty!

The wine is homemade by my Dad who passed away in April. I have a close up of the label in another picture. My husband and I bought the labels for my Dad for Christmas 2009 from Let's Do Wine located  in the Buffalo area.

The vase was bought at a favorite shop, Hobby Lobby in IL. It has tiny roses all the way around it. My beautiful  roses came off my buffet in the dining room.
I wish I had taken a closer picture of the wine bottle! The label was custom made with the inscription...
" The Zampella Winery the Finest Wine On Cullen Avenue"
Zinfandel
2009 Zampella Cellars
Schenectady, New York

I hope you have enjoyed our little chat during lunch.... it went very fast...I would love to have you over again.....please come back again! You don't need an invitation.....just come visit anytime.
If you have any suggestions for me.....please let me know.
Blessings my friends,

  6. Ladyelaine, welcome to the most addictive party I have ever joined. Nice to meet you and to have a look at your home. The view in your dining room is very nice. You've set a cozy tabel and I love especially your china with the delicate pattern. I love roses very much as you can see at my blog, too. And I am relly blown away from your placemats. They catched my eyes from the first moment and I can't believe, they are really plastic? They look like very worthy lace mats. Very nice table. I hope I will met you next week again.
    Greetings, Johanna

  17. Welcome to Tablescape Thursday! I hope you'll become a regular. I'd say you have a natural aptitude for it (and it does get easier -- and faster -- after you do it a few times!). Your table looks great! Loved the story about the table itself, about the pond, about your dad's wine (to me, one of the most special things about your post).

    Again, congratulations and welcome!

    Regards,
    Bill

  19. Welcome to Tablescaping! You've done a wonderful table this week -- I hope this is the first of many. I love your dishes -- Love the vintage dishes and linens from the 30's and 40's especially. What a great gift of wind from your Dad -- how fun that is. Thanks for your very sweet visit this week, I'm late getting around to see everyone.
